Birds in Kenya

Day 1: Transfer to Samburu national park

This park is along the banks of the Ewaso Ngíro River and has some dense populated forests. Samburu is home to large population of wildlife as well as birds therefore bird watching and wildlife viewing become the major tourists activities in this semi-arid reserve, a climate that makes game viewing easy. You will have your lunch when you get there and then after that, you will go for an afternoon game drive to see the resident wildlife like the Reticulated Giraffe, Greys Zebra, Beisa Oryx and the rare blue-necked Somali Ostrich. You will go back to lodge for dinner and over night at either Samburu intrepid, Samburu sopa lodge  among others.

Day 2: Bird watching /nature walk

After breakfast, the guide will take you for bird watching. The park has over 350 species of birds and it you are keen, you may spot over 300 species on that day which give the bird lover a great experience thus will make the trip worth while. However, you may choose to go for a nature to the Ngare Ndare and Makogondo forest with a local guide who will be explaining and give you all the information you may need. Later you will come back to the lodge for lunch and after lunch, you will go for Camel or horse back riding from the private ranches before you can retire at your lodge at the end of the day.

Day 3: Transfer to Mt. Kenya

You will drive to Mt Kenya region on the Eastern border and it’s a very famous destination for nature lovers as it has got lots of birding trails. You will have your lunch at the lodge. After lunch, you check and then go for a walk and be able to see the caves and during the walk, you will come across the waterfalls, view the mountain and the vegetation around it. Later in the evening, you will go back to the lodge for your dinner and over night which may be Mt. Kenya safari club, Serena mountain lodge, the Ark lodge,

Day 4: Game drive

You will have to wake up early, have breakfast and then go for the game drive around the park and you can expect to see so many wildlife, birds as well as tree specie. You will have your packed lunch and then drive to Nakuru national park. Reach in time for lunch. Get pleasure from an afternoon game drive in Lake Nakuru National Park which is a sanctuary of rhinos and it is usually flooded by Flamingos and that makes Lake Nakuru National Park a very unique place for the visitor. Day 5: Game viewing and transfer to Masai Mara

Lake Nakuru Park’s ecosystem is a home for about 56 different species of mammals like the white rhino and buffaloes as well as variety of terrestrial birds totaling to about 450 species besides the Flamingos. And after lunch, you will start on your journey to Masai Mara. You will be arriving in the evening, check in, have your dinner later as you wait for the next day’s activities.   Lodging can be at Mara Serena safari lodge/ Sarova Mara game camp/ Mara intrepid tented camp/ Mara Simba lodge/ Masai Mara sopa lodge, etc

Day 6: Game drive in Masai Mara

When you wake up, you will have breakfast and then go for the morning game drive. Expect to see the big fives of the jungle with majority of them being the elephants but you will encounter other animals as well as like the Buffalo, Black Rhino, Hippopotamus, Leopard, Cheetah, Common Zebra, Coke’s Hartebeest, White bearded Gnu, Oribi, Warthog, and others before you can return for lunch. In the evening, you may o fro a cultural visit in the Masai community who are semi nomads popular for their distinctive cultures and colorful dress code alternatively; you can go for horse riding.

Day 7: departure

After your breakfast on this day, you will drive back to Nairobi to catch your flight
