The northern part of Tarime district which is within the Mara region is said to gaining great stability as far as tourism business is concerned. There are hundreds of tourists that are entering the country passing through the Tanzania/ Kenya’s Sirari border and are making frequent stops in Tarime town and then proceed to the western parts of Serengeti to see the different view beautiful flora and fauna at this time as compared to the past years.

Also, there many foreign tourists that are landing at Magena airstrip found at the border of Tarime almost every day and this is why the Tarime District Council is urging all the potential investors to set up classic lodges in the nearby villages which tourists can use when they visit in Tarime as well the famous Serengeti National Park.  Mr. Amos Sagara who is the Tarime District Council Chairman said while addressing the daily news that this is the right opportunity for the business community to come out and build tourist hotels before its too late as tourists might end up abandoning the place due to poor accommodation facilities. Tarime town has got so many guest houses mostly offering substandard services with only Gold land Hotel Ltd as the only classic hotel that accommodates both foreign and local visitors in the area.

It’s owned by Mr. Mseti Wangwe who is a businessman in the lake zone region and it offers range of hospitality services but more to this is the need to work on the roads in the region like the Tarime- Mugumu road that cross Mara River is said to have greatly contributed to favour development of tourism sector in the region. The road is taken care of by the Tanzania National Roads Agency (TANROADS) Mara office. The better the road, the more accessible the tourists’ site will be for the tourists and hence attract more.
