By March 4, 2013Tanzanian tourism news

This site’s target is to have more than 700,000 tourists to visit the Ngorongoro Conservation Area by the end of this year and if this has achieved, then the NCAA stands will break the record of hosting the highest number of visitors in the whole of Tanzania. There is a steady increase in the number of tourists who are interested in visiting the Ngorongoro Crater.  According to the records, the wildlife packed caldera is currently being visited by more than 588,000 tourists in a year.

There were over 588,814 visitors who visited the Ngorongoro Conservation Area Authority through the main Loduare Gate in 2012 while in 2011, they were 588,606 tourists and yet in 2010, 523,646 tourists visited the place. According to Mr. Asantael Melita who is the NCAA Principal Tourism Officer, they hope they can receive over 600,000 tourists by the end of the year and hopefully they can even get to 700,000.

Hopefully these tourists will help bring in revenue which is equivalent to 55bn to make it possible for them to generate more income than the entire region of Mtwara and it is likely that this year there will be an increase in the number since the Ngorongoro Crater have just been identified as one to the 7 wonders of Africa adding on those that come in to witness the annual wildebeests’ migration which happens annually.

Tanzania has 16 National Parks and those are the Serengeti where you can be guaranteed of over 350,000 tourists in a year, Mount Kilimanjaro with close to 55,000 climbers aiming at its highest peak, there is the Tarangire, famous for its huge numbers of elephants and tree-climbing pythons getting over 150,000 visitors.
