Uganda Tourism Ministry receives new Permanent Secretary

tourism-permanent-secretary-ugandaNot long ago, the president of Uganda – Yoweri Museveni made reshuffles among the Permanent Secretaries in the different ministries and among those affected was the Ministry of Tourism Wildlife & Antiquities. While at their head offices located in the capital city Kampala on the Rwenzori Towers staff members in this ministry witnessed the change in office between these secretaries.

The ceremony which was overseen by Professor Ephraim Kamuntu the Minister of Tourism saw Mrs. Doreen Katusiime take over office from former Permanent Secretary Ambassador Patrick Mugoya. The later was transferred to serve in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs ministry in which he had previously worked.

Mrs. Katusiime the incoming Permanent-Secretary encouraged the players within the public as well as the private sector in the tourism sector to exhibit integrity not only in their actions but their words as well.

She added that she has found a great foundation established by out-going Permanent secretary Ambassador Mugoya, and she expects to continue working with this team with respect for one another as well as team work.

During his speech, the chief guest Professor Ephraim Kamuntu said that he knows both the outgoing and incoming Permanent Secretaries and to him this was rather a weird moment, however he added that he was glad to work with Mr. Mugoya and was looking forward to work with the incoming Permanent Secretary.

Several key players within the tourism sector attended this handover ceremony including officals from the Uganda Tourism Association and all of them appreciated the great work that out going Permanent Secretary had done during his term in office.

Ambassador Patrick Mugoya was appointed to serve as Permanent Secretary in the ministry in July 2011, and has served in this position for 5 years. During his service the tourism sector has been able to establish its self as one of the key industries that are driving Uganda’s economic transformation, through the various policies, strategies and laws that were put into place.
