Uganda among Top 2016 must-visit Tourist Destination

Uganda-chimpanzeesSimilar to the past couple of years, Uganda is still doing well on various international charts regarding having some of the best tourism hotspots across the planet.

In accordance with the Business Insider, come 2016, Uganda, is going to be among the top 12 Tourist destinations worth visiting.

Most correspondents and bloggers in tourism industry have predicted that 2016 will focus on rising destinations, and that culture, Wilderness and wildlife are the themes that will dominate the 2016 Safari itineraries.

Among the additional destinations that have been internationally tagged as “must-visit’ while on holiday in Uganda are the national parks, Ngamba Island Chimpanzee Sanctuary, the source of River Nile (the longest river in the world) and the powerful voluminous Murchison falls. The explosive crater lakes found in western Uganda that have made this landlocked country a beautiful oasis are also worth visiting.

On average, Uganda’s tourism industry contributes 6.5 billion shillings to the country’s Gross Domestic Product. The increase is captured in the tourism master-plan of the government that aims to see the figure triple in the coming 5 years.

The country has registered an overall growth of 5.6 billion shillings which translates to a 9.9% GDP increase in the past financial year. And according to Uganda’s ministry of Tourism, this has been because of the increased number of visitor with a record of 1,266,046 from 1,206,334 the previous year.

Even more credit for this advancement has been given to the increased tourism promotional efforts by the Government although critics continue to insist that little effort has been channeled towards marketing Uganda as a tourism destination to the rest of the world, as compared to other countries.

However, there have been some visible marketing efforts, although they have largely remained sparse and inconsistent.
