TOURISTS SURVIVE A DEADLY ACCIDENT IN RWANDA

A family of 5 tourists from Canada identified as  Isabelle Deriere, Michael Deriere, Anita Deriere, Francois Deriere, and Florien Deriere and Christine Mukeshimana a Rwandan national survived death while heading to Akagera National Park on Thursday.

The accident happened when they were coming from Karongi district where they built their family residential house for spending vacations and holidays. When they reached  in Musambira Sector, Kamonyi District, the car overturned because the driver was trying to over take a commuter taxi.

The Land Cruiser with registration number RAA 316Y lost control and rolled off the road because the police think the driver was over speeding or because of his inexperience. The police said the driver wasn’t used to driving long distances but the accident might have happened because of over speeding.

The tourists were taken to Kigali Central hospital (CHUK) for treatment with the Rwandan national but Isabelle was flown to Nairobi because she suffered severe injuries.

Cyprian Gahutu the owner of the car said that he could not avoid the accident and he had little hope for the insurance to cover his car.
