One of Kenya’s most beautiful islands the Funzi Keys has its residents in collaboration with a number of hoteliers together with the Funzi and Bodo trust to organized their swimming get together. This event is done every year and this competition is intended to bringing together communities from different islands and promoting Funzi keys as a great tourists’ destination.
During the event travelers from different areas in Lunga Lunga-Kwale together with tourists from as far as Sweden were present. The competition was in two categories – youngsters and adults- in a two kilometers race. And besides swimming, there were other activities like a tag of war called the jugwe between different islands and kibao a local game. These are some to the cultural tourists’ attractions that are in most cases ignored yet could attract a number of tourists besides the different game parks and historical sites more so at Kenya’s coastal mombasa beach.
To have some personal time in a quiet and very beautiful place, Funzi keys is the place to visit.
