Lake Victoria Serena Hotels Opened a New Golf Course

By November 3, 2015Uncategorized

Lake-Victoria-Serena-Golf-CourseThe Serena group hotels in Uganda invited over 122 guests to celebrate with them the grant opening of their new golf course at Lake Victoria Serena hotel. Guests included Diplomatic groups and leading members of the hotel and tourism industry to mention but a few. The golf course will probably mark the beginning of Uganda’s journey to a powerful tournament which will lead to Uganda’s ever first championship in so many decades. This golf course will be an added attraction to tourists who love golf when they come for a Safari in Uganda and they will appreciate the fact that they will find a 5 star resort and a 5 star golf course in the same place.

Hopefully, Uganda can venture into golf tourism which is now a big business in Kenya and is growing so fast. What is now needed is getting the regional tourism marketers on board to carefully plan how to market this activity. For golf tourism to succeed, it requires the involvement of professional course designers and developers, so it’s not just about putting up a new golf resort.

Mahmud Janmohamed who is the CEO of Serena hotels based in Nairobi graced the occasion and he took the opportunity to promote the hotel as well as golf course at the same time and he also brought on board Rwanda Air as one of their key sponsors. The airline is a perfect target since it flies from Entebbe to Nairobi twice a day, going through Kigali. Hotel rates are now as low as $185 for the single room on bed and breakfast basis including green fees, the caddy fees and also you can play for 9 holes. You can pay extra $10 to play the 18 holes.  Then a companion on that kind of such a day will be worth $25 extra. Enjoy your stay at Serena hotel, play some golf, from there you can spend some time in the Maisha Spa and also enjoy all the other facilities that the resort provides to the guests.

Rwanda Air will be offering airfares deals to travelers in an effort to make this place the most selling ever and this offer is available every Friday and Saturday night until mid-December. Costs are expected to become even lower once the airline launches their own packages they will be offering to the public.

This additional attraction  has come at the right time when most Uganda’s tour operators are attending this year’s World Travel Market in London therefore they are busy trying hard to market Uganda to the rest of the world. This latest attraction should be emphasized by all operators so that it becomes another reason why the rest of the world should visit Uganda and this will be in addition to the Lonely Planet’s efforts where it raised the Pearl of Africa to the level of its most favored destinations in Africa.

Uganda has been for so long know for the popular gorilla tracking safaris and the usual big game safaris, then the white water rafting in Jinja, mountain climbing at the Rwenzori mountain, hikes in different parts of Uganda more so in the south west where there is a network of trails. There are also the pilgrimages to Martyrs’ shrines in Namugongo and the visits to different kingdoms, all these activities lead to a beautiful and complete vacation experience. It is a wonderful experience because such a trip includes wildlife and nature based tourism, then there is an element of culture and history making it really rich; it’s something you can hardly find in other countries.

You can easily access Lake Victoria Serena Resort from Kampala as it only 30 km and from Entebbe international airport, its just 20km. this means you can stay before or after your wildlife, cultural, birding or any other kind of Safari in Uganda that you wish to go for.  Enjoy your stay in Uganda.
