museveni-safari-ugandaUganda’s President Yoweri Museveni has launched the promotion of the tourism industry which is the leading foreign exchange earner in Uganda. However, he’s carrying it out without the officials of the Tourism body supposed to promote Uganda as a tourist destination.

During his visit in Semiliki National Park and Queen Elizabeth National Park both found in southwestern Uganda, President Museveni posed for several photographs as he enjoyed nature walks, visited the beautiful hot springs as well as saw different animals such as elephants and lions. He also met several Uganda Wildlife Authority rangers during this Uganda Safari.

The President does not think that the Uganda Tourism Board is carrying out its role of promoting Uganda as a Tourism destination and yet it receives billions of Uganda shillings each financial year.

In his remarks, President Museveni said that he took time off and visited the beautiful Queen Elizabeth National Park where he saw various animals at the viewing area in Kasenyi close to Lake George, and also explored the amazing Kazinga Channel that connects Lake George and Lake Albert. He also visited the Mweya Safari Lodge one of the luxury lodges in Queen Elizabeth National Park.

He added that the reason of taking this Safari in Uganda, which included visiting the less explored Semuliki National Park, is to primarily promote Uganda as a Tourism Site. President Museveni following his Uganda Safari has encouraged the people of Uganda to visit the various tourist sites in the country including the national parks, museums and cultural sites so as to enjoy the Beauty of Uganda – the pearl of Africa. He went on to assure both Ugandans and international tourists that Uganda is a very safe destination will good security guaranteed in all parts of the country.
