By February 2, 2011Uncategorized

MV Kalangala is a vessel used as the main means of transport to travel to the islands on Lake Victoria in Uganda and was constructed in 2006 at Port Bell. The vessel carries 108 people, 100 ton cargo and 8 cars from Entebbe Nakiwogo landing site to  Kalangala Lutoboka landing site.

The MV Kalangala was stopped by the Ministry of Transport and Works on 4th August 2010 because it required an engine repair and this left passengers, traders, tourists stranded because the ferry was the only means of transport to the islands on Lake Victoria.
On Friday, the ferry started working again after the five months of engine repair and this time it’s under the Ministry of Works and Transport because the agreement between the ministry and the Mulowooza & Brothers had expired.

The ministry is now searching for the new operator while the vessel is operating and it has been said the payment for first class has remained 14,000 shillings and for second class 10,000shs.
