By March 23, 2013Uncategorized

The KWS officials have informed the local people from Nandi and Uasin-Gishu to stop their hunt for the “man-eaters” which are allegedly threatening their lives. This has come after the residents spent the second week hunting for the suspected animal but Kenya wildlife service says that there is no man eater in their region. According to Joel Kanda who is the North Rift regional warden,  the claims were rumors going on around the social media adding that his officers have not  been able to trace these so called “man eaters that are believed to be threatening people in the King’wal ecosystem in Nandi county and Kesses in Uasin-Gishu.

Kanda said after two jackals were killed by the KWS officers together with members of the public and he also said that it was not true that there was someone who was eaten up by this animal at Mosoriot trading center weeks ago. He also said that the police are currently looking for a medic who posted photos of the body on Face book saying wild animals killed and ate him up thus causing a lot of panic and fear among people when the rumor started spreading. The true is that this person was attacked and stubbed by some people and let there bleeding which attracted dogs that ate the body up. it was therefore wrong the realize false information to the public.
