For the past Months ever since Air Uganda’s Ban, the only option for the route of Entebbe – Nairobi has been Kenya airways , however now Regional Travellers have an option, as Rwanda has introduced flights for this route.. In order to efficiently serve the Uganda- Kenya travelers, Rwanda Air is now in business and it is expected to serve well since it is a respected airline. Rwanda Air has got new aircraft and a big network, so far they are punctual and offer very good services to passengers while on board and there are already passengers that have booked to fly with them to Juba.
The good news is that these flights provide us with a choice in terms of prices and the departure times because now there is more departure times to choose from and at lower fares. Airline management is considering charging 250 US Dollars return and this includes the taxes but with full service on board. Their service has come at a time when Air Uganda is no longer in business, which paved way for Kenya Airways to monopolize the route and so, Rwanda air’s introduction of direct flights on this route will quickly fill the gap that Air Uganda left.
The airline will this the morning launch the everyday flight from Entebbe to Nairobi and this will be in addition to their existing flights via Kigali. At the moment, they are operating a fleet of 7 aircraft, four of them Boeing B737NG’s, two Bombardier CRJ900NextGen’s and then later in a few months, one Bombardier Q400NextGen will be brought in join Rwanda Air.
Rwanda Air made inroads in regards to market share in the Eastern African region and will possibly capture a major share of the point to point market on the Entebbe to Nairobi route. More to this is the fact that the airline recently announced the launch of three nonstop flights every week from Kigali to Lusaka and will start flying there from the 29th of March. These routes are in addition to the already exiting daily flights to a number of destinations in Africa. The introductions of this direct flight will further make the it easy and cheap for tourists to connect between these two countries ( Uganda and Kenya) especially since there is a East Africa single tourists Visa already in Place. .
