Good news for Tanzania and this is because Serengeti National Park was chosen as the best of the seven New Natural Wonders of Africa. It was even more interesting to learn that all the three attractions that Tanzania had up for the competition made it among the seven. The announcement was made from Arusha were the ceremony was held and then  President  who is also the Founder of the Texas (US)-based ‘New Seven Wonders,’ Dr Philip Imler said that though the seven wonders are not ranked in positions, Serengeti stood out due to its legendary, mesmerizing largest migration of large mammals.

Then the Ngorongoro Crater under the  Ngorongoro Conservation Area Authority and also described as ‘The Bowl’ where different  wildlife live is also among the seven and then Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest mountain in the 3rd position basing on Tanzania’s entries . There were other winners like the ‘Red Sea Reef,’ on the coast of Egypt and Sudan; River Nile in Uganda  flowing into more than 10 countries in Africa, the Sahara Desert which covers almost ten countries and also the Okavango Delta of Botswana.

There were 12 entries from around the continent competing to be among the Seven but it was it was amazing for Tanzania to learn that three of its own were among the seven.  According to Dr Philip Imler, not even the votes from Tanzanians helped to sway final experts’ conclusions. He also named the Seven Wild Life Wonders of Africa as the leopard, crocodile, elephant, hippopotamus, rhino, mountain gorilla and the lion.

Tanzania is proud to have three of its natural wonders among Seven Natural Wonders of Africa, it is a huge achievement for the tourism industry so said Ambassador, Mr Khamis Kagasheki the Minister for Natural Resources and Tourism.
