By June 5, 2012Rwanda tourism news

According to the information got by the Sunday times, Rwanda’s ministry of finance has drawn a draft Bill for the tourism industry which is intended to help in the reorganization of all the tourism operations in Rwanda and it is at the moment at the Ministry of Trade and Industry. This development has been declared by Emmanuel Hategeka the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry and he said that the bill is just being finalized by the responsible people before it can be passed. Hategeka said they are now setting the time frame before they can forward to the parliament.

He said that the tourism industry need a law that regulates all its activities because it has now developed tremendously which makes it important for it to have set legal tools to guide its operations just like the other countries do with their tourism industries something that will help it advance to the next level. Despite the fact that the Rwanda Development Board (RDB) has been and still working hand in hand with the Private Sector Federation to promote tourism, it is very important that the RDB makes use of the legal tools so said Emmanuel Hategeka.

Rica Rwigamba the head of Tourism and Conservation at RDB said while addressing the Sunday Times that this Bill will help to improve on service delivery in the industry after it is passed given the fact the all laws come along with punishment for the law breakers therefore any tourism player who will go against the law will be liable to punishment and this something that will instill fear in them and will learn proper service delivery.

She also said that they intend to put restrictions based on professionalism and that implies that they will require someone to produce minimum requirements for that person to get involved in tourism and the hospitality sector.
