Publicizing the use of the single tourists visa

By February 11, 2015Eastafrica safari news

According to reports, it appears there are a so many people that don’t know about the existence of a the East Africa single tourists visa and for that reason the Kenya Tourism Federation has contracted Strathmore University’s Centre for Tourism and Hospitality to conduct a regional survey on the level of awareness and usage of the Single Tourist Visa. This sort of visa was taken on by East African Community member states which include Kenya, Uganda and Rwanda early 2014 but safely the take up by foreign visitors has been slow in spite of the fact that it is actually very cheap since its now $100 to enter all the 3 states compared to when they had to pay $50 separately for a visa to enter each country.

This survey will also help find out the level of awareness on use of national IDs for cross-border travel by citizens of the three countries. They expect to identify the gaps in the programs and then fix them so said the Joe Wadawi of the Strathmore Centre for Tourism and Hospitality.

According to Kenya Tourism Federation, there are only 1,560 single tourist visas that had been sold by December 11 , 2014 and yet there were hundreds of thousands of in-bound tourists that visited the region in 2014. The single tourists’ visa was introduced in an effort to attract more tourists into East Africa and visit more than just one country since they would be allowed to use one visa to tour the three countries. Hope fully, more travelers will realize the different and use it often.
