Information from a realiable source reveals that the curio traders in Malindi have been greatly affected by the recent terror threats on Kenya. They said their business s not going well since the most of their customers are the tourists and foreign investors who are at the moment avoiding the area because of insecurity brought about by Somali’s al Shabaab militants.

According to one of the trader, Samuel Abuya, their business is not good at all even I this high season where they expected large numbers of tourists in the region and therefore more customers. According to the way things are, this year’s high season is just like any other low season for them, things are worse compared to other years because by around this time they could have received so many visitors which is not the case as so many visitors are keeping away from the area fearing to be victims of any attack that may be done on Kenya any time.

Abuya trader also mentioned that the sales are very low and one can get just about 1-3 customers or none an d the luckiest trader might get between Sh70, 000 and Sh80, 000 per month and yet one could get  more than Sh150, 000 per month in the past years. He asked the Kenyan government to improve on the security and also find a way to lift off the travel advisories, it is affecting them seriously.
