KWS to tighten the security of Tsavo west

By March 13, 2015kenya tourism news

Though the industry is complaining about the low rate at which they are receiving visitors, they have failed to address the simplest issues that are most likely affecting tourism which is the domestic animals intrusion in the reserved areas meant for wildlife. There a thousands of livestock that have flooded wildlife sanctuaries around Tsavo and are hurting business at hotels too.

Willy Mwadilo who is the Sarova Taita Hills Game Lodge manager said the business is so low latterly and it’s because the travelers are disregarding Tsavo. Bookings have reduced from 65-70% to 20-25%, the hate it when they see more livestock than the wildlife in the park after paying a lot of money.

The manager said herders are coming into the sanctuary from Tsavo West National Park.

The good news is that the Kenya Wildlife Services has come out to address the problem. Rangers have been ordered to drive out all livestock and have all the surrounding communities as well as those that migrate say from Sudan understand the punishment for illegal grazing. There is a plan to close up all those entrances to the park and have the locals stay completely out of the park.

Much as there is been this challenge, Tsavo is one great park that one should visit when you visit Kenya, it is very famous for the man eaters (lions) which were a big problem in the early days. Pick the best destination, you pick Tsavo west National park.
