KTB should be alert to promote and protect the industry

Dan Mwazo the Kenyan Tourism minister just suggested while he was addressing the tourism stakeholders yesterday in Nairobi that for better performance of the Kenya tourism board and get more earnings out of it, there should be a change in its marketing structure. He said that it is important to identify better and as many markets as possible to increase on the earnings.

He said that they should get other ambassadors who will help in marketing the different tourists’ attractions which have not acquired much popularity in a number of potential market centers like the beach or cultural packages. Currently, KTB mainly uses market development representatives based in various countries to sell Kenya’s attractions. “The common safari and beach products that we sell are no longer that attractive and if there were brand ambassadors who understand the different products that Kenya has on offer well, they would find ways to revitalize the product Mwazo said.

Mwazo guaranteed the investors and tourists that the government has the capacity to address the problems of the attacks that it is facing therefore this should not threaten them. Meanwhile, Mike Macharia the CEO of Kenya Hotel Keepers and Caterers has complained over conflicting information produced  by government agencies about the most recent  attack on Kenya where some people were hurt in that blast in Nairobi, he added that such confusion among government agencies creates anxiety in the market.
