The Kenyan President Mwai Kibaki has asked all the Kenyans to make sure that embrace peace and stability in the country as they go into the election period. He added that having a quiet and peaceful election will send the right signals to investors and tourists from all parts of the world. Following the last chaos in Kenya after the last elections, there are so many people who would be interested in investing in and touring around Kenya but could never dare to so due to the fear that was created by that mess.

Kibaki therefore believes that a peaceful poll this time will do great when it comes to marketing the tourism and thus boost the country’s position as a preferred tourist destination. The President was addressing the people at the opening of the Sh2 billion Boma Hotel in Nairobi a property of the Kenya Red Cross Society which President Kibaki is the patron.

Meanwhile, he appreciated the leadership of the Kenya Red Cross Society for their involvement with all activities done to seek for financial stability. “This new hotel will not only supplement the income of the organization but will also help boost Kenya’s tourism by increasing the accommodation facilities available in Kenya for travelers.” So he said. He also asked other non-profit organizations to set up innovative income generating projects so they can become financially self-reliant.

Dan Mwazo who is the Kenya minister for tourism together with his Special Programmes partner Esther Murugi were some of the people who encouraged the establishment of the hotel believing that it will do a good job regarding the provision of the necessary resources for its humanitarian activities despite the so many question s by different MPs why the Red Cross had to get involved in income generating activities yet it is a non profit making organization.
