Kenya Tourism Board (KTB) has widened its course from the common marketing strategy of Kenya as the place with the best beaches and safari place to visit and then go for marketing its new tourism products to render variety of package available at the 2012 International Tourism Bourse that is yet to come.

KTB‘s main purpose is find market for Kenya’s tourism products and other services with in Kenya and countries out side it. It will therefore organize and go along with more than 45 companies that are in the tourism industry to the global tourism fair which will be beginning on Wednesday.  This will be the perfect chance fro the board to try and attract as many tourists as possible to the country and alleviate the consequences brought about by the economic crisis in Europe.

Muriithi Ndegwa who is KTB’s Managing Director mentioned that their number very first plan is to improve on the tourism Products that they sell and therefore, apart from the already known products like the traditional products, the beach as well as wildlife, more emphasis is put on marketing the new products like sports, eco-tourism, culture, Meeting Incentives Conferencing and exhibitions (MICE) and many others.

Unfortunately, there are some problems that are affecting KTB which will be talked about during meetings which will be held along side the occasion some which are ensuring job motivation and working on the investment in the industry, getting rid of all hindrance to travel like the visa limitations, duty levied on them, and the poor infrastructure in the country. During 2011’s ITB, Kenya had to sustain the safari and beach places at a reasonable selling status although the rest of the areas in the countries had the same too.

KTB also protected it status which makes the two Kenya’s flag bearer products which can not be just be pushed aside even as they try to come up with new tourism products fro marketing.  What therefore the government of Kenya is doing currently is to modify the customary tourism products to that level where they can compete favorably on the world market so said Ndegwa. ITB then offers opportunities for Kenya to increase on the number of tourists from European countries given the fact that it is the largest source of tourists that Kenya gets around years.
