By December 6, 2012Kenya travel news

Yesterday, the Turkish Airlines officially opened its route through Mombasa and this will be serving Kenya’s coastal city 5 times a week now. For those travelers who will be connecting from Turkish’s global network via Istanbul will now have the option to fly to thy’s second Kenyan destination, after Nairobi Kenya, they will be leaving every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday, leaving Istanbul at 18.10 hrs before reaching MBA, via Kilimanjaro, at 03.55 hrs the next day in the morning.

The coastal tourism group has appreciated the coming of the new flight which is good news especially after both Qatar and Brussels Airlines withdrew from their earlier planned involvement due to low demand. Similarly, those tour operators from all over Europe offering safari businesses to Tanzania and beach holidays to Kenya have appreciated Turkish airlines’ initiative as it is one of the few international scheduled services connecting major airlines to Mombasa and is now working along side Star Alliance partners Ethiopian.

According to the Local tourism representatives, this is very good news ahead of the festive season. They say the airline now has the largest global reach therefore can bring tourists from North America and Europe but also from Asia. Now that the upcoming markets in Asia and Eastern Europe are doing well, it is up to the operators in Kenya to promote their attractions so that they can get as many tourists as possible in a year.

Meanwhile in Tanzania, safari operators too were happy about the fact that the flight touched the Kilimanjaro International Airport grounds outside Arusha. And according to latest information from Arusha, the efforts by Turkish to promote the destination has led to the introduction of new business for the Northern safari circuit, which includes places like the Serengeti, ngorongoro and tarangire
