The Kikorongo community visit is very possible while on your trip to Queen Elizabeth national park because this community based organization include local community people who are living around this park. These people are located very close to Simba safari lodge and this program is intended to help these people benefit from the existence of this park too.

The word Kikongoro comes from the Lukonzo, a local language and it means too much sunshine. They came up with the name because of the fact this area experience that heat of the real African plains for the largest part of the year however in spite that, the Kikongoro Equator cultural performers are never intimidated the conditions. They engage in activities like music, dance and drama and they usually perform for the guests, they can demonstrate for you how fire is made and the local interpreters will be there to help you understand the performances.

They do teach how weave baskets, belts, purses and make bowls from natural fibers from their African craft workshop. From her, you will also learn how they make beautiful beads out simple magazine papers. Such items are at a small price and this money help these women with their daily needs.

On your Uganda Safari, the major importance of this group is the fact they help create awareness about different aspects of life for example, through their songs, they educate fellow locals about the importance of taking boiled water, ensuring safe motherhood, practicing water and general hygiene, acting against poaching, among so many other things that are benefit the whole communally. A story about their cultures and beliefs, for example they believe that an energetic dance can call on the spirits of their ancestors and they take over their bodies.
