In the wilderness, the buffaloes’ greatest enemy is the lion and would take pleasure in hurting each other.  For instance a herd of about 35 African buffaloes arrived at open grassland near Morungu where they found a lion’s cub’s carcass after it was abandoned by its mother who must have felt it was too weak to handle the challenges of the savannah. Just to be certain, one buffalo sniffed the carcass and tried to bite the body of their greatest enemy in wild and then many other came to join the party, they snatched it from her mouth and kick it strongly from one side to another, expressing their feelings against their bitter enemy.

Once they felt good, they continued with their journey in the vast Moyowosi and Kigosi game reserves which is about 13,000 square kilometers large.

Selous Game Reserve has an infuriated group of buffaloes in Africa; Serengeti buffaloes are lions’ greatest enemies. African buffalo can weight about between 900 to a tonne and the Syncerus caffer is the smallest of buffaloes in the whole world but is capable of tearing apart most of its prey.

In regards to protection, a mature bull will brutalize a young and weak male buffaloes who show interest in female members of his troop. Meanwhile, the Panthera leo nubica, the heaviest catlike can organize a squad of  about 7-10 lionesses each weighing almost  120 kgs with a help of lion to bring down a buffalo bull  weighing about  1,000 kgs and then  eat the required minimum amount of  5 kg meat per day satisfactorily.

After killing a full grown African buffalo, the lionesses will drag the carcass to the pride where every member will eat with the male leader. Shockingly in Mikumi National Park and savannah land the ‘King of the Jungle’ may chase away the lionesses who brought the meat but allow his cubs to share with him the precious moment.  Lions often eat very fast and then go to rest under the shade of tree and when every member has had enough, then they will leave the remains for other carnivores like the hyenas and may be the vultures. This means, every animal in the jungle watch out for its enemy and when given a chance to  destroy its enemy, this is done with pleasure.
