This Big Five Uganda Safari will take you to the largest wildlife area in Uganda which in 1962 was declared a National park-The Murchison falls National Park. It is located in northwestern Uganda covering an area of 3840 sq km. Some of the major towns neighboring this park include Karuma, Masindi and  Pakwach.

Murchison falls National Park will offer you a memorable adventure experience as you explore the open savannah-grassland on the thrilling game drives and also track chimpanzees in Budongo forest. In addition you will have an opportunity to enjoy a boat ride on the Nile to see other animals and bird species. River Nile is the longest river in the world and it pours into the large Mediterranean Sea.

From Kampala the first stopover you will make will be to the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary located on the Kampala-Gulu highway where you will have an opportunity to track rhinos. This normally takes approximately 2 hours.

Below is the detailed itinerary of this amazing trip

Day 1: Drive to Murchison Falls National Park | Visit Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary

In the morning, on this Uganda Safari, you will be met at elephants-murchison-falls-ugandayour hotel or lodge by our guide from AA Safaris & Tours Ltd. He will brief you about this amazing trip before starting off on a 2-3 hours drive at the ziwa Rhino sanctuary there you will spend about 2 hours tracking rhinos. Some of the additional wildlife you may see include: bush bucks and warthogs. After tracking you will have lunch and then proceed through Masindi town via the Kichumbanyobo gate into Murchison falls National Park. As you drive into the park you will see the playful Baboons as you go into Budongo forest. After an hour’s drive you will reach the top of the falls where you will watch the falls and take photographs.

You will dine and spend the night at a lodge of your preference basing on your budget. Options include: Paraa safari Lodge, Murchison River Lodge and Fort Murchison.

Day 2: Game drive and a Boat ride in the afternoon.

Following breakfast early in the morning you will set out on a game drive to see the early risers in the savannah grasslands. Some of the animals you will see include warthogs, buffaloes, lions and elephants among many others, in addition to a great profusion of birds. After the game drive you will have lunch and then go for a two hours boat ride on the Nile. During this you will see the giant Nile Crocodiles and large schools of hippos, some water birds and a couple of animals along the river bank drinking water. This is a very thrilling experience and the boat ride will take you to the bottom of the 43 meter drop Murchison waterfalls. They are very powerful and beautiful to watch. You will later in the evening return to your lodge to unwind, have dinner and sleep.

Day 3: Early Game Drive, Return to Kampala.

Today after your breakfast at your lodge you will drive back into the wilderness for a final game drive to see the wildlife in this park. Don’t forget to carry along your cameras on this drive so that you can take some Memento photos.

Afterwards you will return to your lodge, Check out and start on the drive returning to Kampala. You will be transferred to Entebbe International Airport to catch your departure flight.
