Kibale National Park, Uganda Kibale Safari Tour
Kibale National Park is one of the beautiful and stunning forests in Uganda and covers 776 sq km, south-east of Fort Portal.
Accommodation
There are several places to stay while in Kibale, one can book into a hotel in Fort Portal, or in the near by villages of Bigodi and Nkingo in simple lodges. Inside the park, camping facilities are found at Kanyanchu, plus four bandas.
Vegetation
The park supports pristine lowland tropical deciduous forest. There are also areas of grassland swamp which is a home to water birds.
The forest also boasts of having one of the highest diversity and density of primates in Africa totalling 13 species including the Black and white Columbus, Blue monkey, Grey-cheeked manageably, Red tailed monkey and Bushbabbies and Pottos.
A network of shady forest trails provides much to delight botanists and butterfly lovers.
Access
Kanyanchu Visitors Centre where the park headquarters are located, is 35km from Fort Portal, while Fort-Portal lies 320km from Kampala.
The most accessible of Uganda’s major rainforests, Kibale is home to a remarkable 13 primate species, including the very localised red colobus and L’Hoest’s monkey.
