On day 2 visit Lake Nakuru National Park

– it encompasses the alkaline lake of the same name, it is frequently visited by hundreds of thousands of greater & lesser flamingos. More than 400 bird species have been recorded here. Nakuru is also a great place to see both black rhino and white rhino as well as buffalo. Lion and leopard live here too but if you are not lucky enough to see them, enjoy the stunning view of the pink tinged lake from the escarpment.

Day 3 & 4 – Lake Nakuru, 2 nights camping wildlife Kenya Safari
Move camp to the shores of Lake Naivasha, well known for its hippo population. Great for a sightseeing safari ! This camp also has a good bar restaurant overlooking the lake and good facilities.

During your stay you may like to visit Hell’s Gate National Park – hire bikes and ride through herds of zebra, buffalo, hartebeest and gazelle. There is spectacular scenery of red cliffs, grassy plains and lava towers. Or spend the day on the lakeshore, spotting a variety of colourful birds. There are more species of birds on this one lake than in the whole of the United Kingdom! Or visit Elsamere, once the home of Joy Adamson and Elsa the lion of ‘Born Free’ fame, Elsamere is now the head quarters of the Born Free Foundation and you can find out more about their work, see the rare Colobus monkeys and take afternoon tea in the gardens.

Nearby is Hell’s Gate National Park where you can hire bikes to take you around the park and see the herds of zebra, buffalo, hartebeest and gazelle. There is some spectacular scenery here, red cliffs, grassy plains and rock towers made of hardened lava, the remains of ancient volcanoes. It’s a hard ride but well worth it. Or you can spend the day on the lakeshore, spotting the rich variety of African birds. There are more species of birds on this one lake that there are in the whole of the UK.

Day 5 & 6 – Masai Mara Game Reserve Safari , 2 nights camping.
Driving out of the Rift Valley, pass through the Masai town Narok before entering the Masai Mara. The camp is a simple site on the edge of the park.

The Masai Mara Game Reserve contains great concentrations of wildlife and adjoins Tanzania’s Serengeti Plains forming the northern end of the great migration ecosystem. From June to October you have a good chance of seeing the migratory herds as hundreds of thousands of wildebeest and zebra move through the area in search of new grass. The Mara Kenya Tour , however, has great resident game and at any time of the year it is usual to see lion, leopard, cheetah, zebra, wildebeest, giraffe, buffalo, jackal, topi, gazelles, impala and elephant.
