Kenya Tourism Board receives new CEO

betty-radier-ktbToday, 1st December 2016, the Kenya Tourism Board has welcomed a new CEO Dr. Betty Radier. She assumed this office after a thorough search was made over a couple of months with proper analysis and examination of the different applicants which eventually saw Dr. Betty outclass them all.

Mr. Jimi Kariuki the chairman of the Kenya Tourism Board who announced this appointment said that he is confident that Dr. Betty’s qualifications are adequate to steer this board as well as Kenya’s tourism industry to a higher level. He added that her wide ranging leadership skills coupled with great proficiency in strategy following her serving as CEO for several years at Scanad (the number one advertising agency in the country) will certainly be resourceful to KTB.

The chairman also appreciated Mrs. Jacinta Nzioka the outgoing acting CEO for having well served in this position for nine months.

During the handover ceremony which was held at the offices of KTB, outgoing Ms. Jacinta Nzioka Mbithi warmly welcomed the new CEO Dr. Radier who immediately took office officially. Ms. Nzioka was appointed to this position by Najib Balala the Tourism Cabinet Secretary earlier this year, and after this she is going to revert back to her former position as Marketing Director of KTB.

Dr. Betty Radier is bringing to KTB her more than 18 years’ experience as a senior manager in operations, marketing as well as strategy. She has a Doctoral degree in Entrepreneurship & Small Business Development awarded at University of Cape Town in the Graduate School of Business, then a Master of Business Administration as well as a Bachelor of Arts degree awarded from University of Nairobi.

Before this appointment to KTB, Dr. Betty served as the Managing Director at Scanad Kenya, JWT as well as Scanad Advertising Tanzania, Lowe Scanad Uganda Ltd and McCann Kenya Ltd.

During her speech, Dr. Betty Radier said that she is pleased to serve in this office and thanked the Board for putting their confidence in her.  She thanked Mrs. Jacinta-Mbithi for the tremendous work done and devoted to continue working with her and the entire team of KTB.
